Historic Inns along the River Thames by Roger Long
After researching over 150 inns along the course of the River Thames, author Roger Long has compiled a book of tales to delight the region’s social historian and pub-goer. He has discovered over 70 establishments on, or close by, the river that reveal an unusual, romantic, horrific or mysterious past. Colourful anecdotes of charismatic landlords and their families, and records of the hostelry’s patrons are also included. Each inn is illustrated and the book also includes directions for visitors. ROGER LONG is the author of several books on Berkshire and its surrounds. He has a particular interest in all things weird and spooky and his most recent title for Sutton Publishing was ‘A Grim Almanac of Berkshire’.
