about this parish

Bits & Bobs
# The Electoral
Roll 1905 project proceeds apace. Below is an
example of a typical entry, this one from the
Occupational Voters section, with the column headings
shown first:
Entry No, Forename of Voter, Surname of Voter,
Place of Abode, Nature of Qualification,Name and
Situation of Qualifying Property,Parliamentary
Borough,Division ,Parish
545,John Robert,Beck,59a Ida Street,Dwelling House,2
Sydney Buildings, Ann Street,Tower Hamlets,Whitechapel,St
Mary Whitechapel
Now what I'm wondering is, just how much use is
this information? I'd really appreciate some feedback
on this,( jameslegon@gmail.com
)
# Our other ongoing project is turning Rob Cottrell's
Thames Riverside Series of parish register transcriptions
into searchable database format. Below is a typical
example of an entry. As can be seen, it does not
contain as much information as a typical Docklands
Ancestors transcription:
7. ACKLAND BENJAMIN 1862 JAN 28 SON OF WILLIAM
& MARY (BORN 26 APR 1820)
My question this time is, would you be prepared
to pay the same amount (£2.95) for this information?
The missing data is the address, occupation and
source reference number,( jameslegon@gmail.com
)
# Rob Cottrell is working on a new waterman project
at the present. All a bit hush hush at the moment
though! He reckons he'll be done by March, so
it looks like quite a major project.
# I've unearthed a little gem of my own on the
waterman front too. Whilst on the trail of the
elusive John Gleghorne, ( my oldest ancestor),
I came across a list of Watermen Impressed, dated
2nd & 3rd July 1673. There's only about 50
names on it, sadly not my boy. Once I've transcribed
it I'll put it on the Waterman page as a freebie.
I'm sure it will be of use to some of you, especially
as it pre-dates the Bindings Indexes. Be sure
to let me know if you spot your waterman ancestor
