I am researching my family and both male and female ancestors on my maternal side are decended from shipwrights.
FIELDER family originally from Boldre, Hampshire (Adams Shipyard) who relocated to Limehouse in the 1820's.
GIBSON family originally from Chatham, Kent (Royal Dockyards) who relocated to Limehouse in the 1830's.
The families were united by the marriage of Mary Ann Elizabeth Fielder to George Benjamin Gibson in the early 1870's - they had at least 13 children, one of whom was my grandmother Alice Matilda Gibson other children were Evelyn, Arthur, Grace, Albert, Walter, Henry.
Both families lived in Park Road, Limehouse where a number of other shipwrights and there families were located - there was a great deal of marriage between the families of the shipwrights.
Do these names "ring a bell" with any of you researchers?
